Mooresville, NC -- Red ripe, sweet and juicy -- those are the words to describe Carrigan Farms strawberries. The six-acre strawberry patch on Hwy. 150 in Mooresville opens April 21st. A milder than average winter and spring have made for a bumper crop in 2012 and the fresh berries are ripe for the picking.
With 26 years of consecutive strawberry seasons under his belt, Farmer Doug Carrigan knows a thing or two about what customers want. "It's a great family activity," says Carrigan. "The berries are fresh, local and you get to pick them by hand. Kids and kids at heart love coming to the strawberry patch. In fact, we'll have so many berries during the first week in May that they'll almost jump into your basket themselves."
In addition to fresh strawberries available from the end of April to the end of May, Carrigan Farms also has fresh asparagus for sale beginning in April; sugar-snap peas in mid-May; and heirloom leaf lettuce throughout April and May.
Open 8 AM - 8 PM, Monday-Saturday AND 11 AM - 6 PM on Sundays. Visit www.carriganfarms.com for all the details on dates, times, pricing and recipe ideas and plan your trip to the patch!
