On Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Mooresville Police Department will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The event is co-sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Bring your medications for disposal to Walmart at Consumer Square-169 Norman Station Boulevard. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Over the past three years, Mooresville Police Department has collected and destroyed over 5,300 pounds of prescription drugs through take-back events and its drug drop box located at the Police Department.
