Warmer days are increasing seniors’ risk for heat-related illnesses. With 40 percent of heat-related deaths occurring in people age 65+, recognizing symptoms and seniors’ unique needs can help prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Come learn why heat can be risky business, especially for senior adults. This educational program will be held on Thurs., Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. and will include a review of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Also discussed will be how older adults can stay healthy and hydrated during hot summer temperatures. Who should attend: staff and volunteers of organizations in the aging field, in-home care agencies, retirement and assisted living communities, ministerial staff, caregivers, companion sitters, and anyone else working with the aging community.
