This workshop offers education and practical tools to help alleviate the physical and emotional suffering associated with chronic pain. Drawing from the latest research in neuroscience and incorporating techniques from both counseling and yoga practices, individuals will learn about the importance of the brain?s perception of pain (gate control theory), the exacerbation of pain during the stress response and ways to alleviate pain through cognitive restructuring, breathing exercises, mindfulness, gentle yoga and other relaxation techniques. No yoga experience necessary. Yoga mats will be provided.
